ITF Competition

Songs of Distant Earth took third prize in the 40th Anniversary ITF Composition Contest. There were 106 entries, and the winning pieces were performed by Bone Therapy at the 2011 International Trombone Festival.

All-Star Young Artists Ensemble

Congratulations to two of Kenyon's students who were selected to the All-Star Young Artists Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble at the 2010 International Tuba/Euphonium Conference:
  • Evan Brock (Georgia)
  • Richard Droghini (South Carolina)

Fearful Symmetry

The ITEC Collegiate All-Star Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Kent Eshelman, premiered Kenyon's Fearful Symmetry at the 2010 International Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Tucson, Arizona. The ensemble consists of sixteen college and university musicians selected by audition.

Trifecta

Maureen Horgan, professor of trombone at Georgia College & State University, is currently working on a new solo album that will include Kenyon's Trifecta. Recording sessions took place this summer during the New Hampshire Music Festival.

Möbius

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Trumpet Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Erika Schafer, presented the premiere performance of Kenyon's trumpet octet, Möbius, on Friday, November 13, 2009 in the Hayes Recital Hall at UTC. Möbius was also recently performed at Valdosta State University, the University of Alabama, and the Trumpet Festival of the Southeast.

Dance No. 2

Dave Silden commissioned Kenyon to write a new work for tuba/euphonium quartet. The result, Dance No. 2, was premiered by the Charlotte Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Park Road Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Kerfuffle on YouTube

The Queen City Brass Band's performance of Kenyon's brass fanfare Kerfuffle is now available on YouTube. The video is from the Columbus Day Concert in October 2009 at the Salvation Army Temple in Charlotte.

Baylor Young Alumnus Award

Kenyon was selected as a recipient of the Herbert H. Reynolds Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from Baylor University. The Alumni Association presented the award during Baylor's Centennial Homecoming festivities October 2009.

Wall Street Kerfuffle

Kenyon's fanfare, Kerfuffle for quintuple antiphonal brass, was the feature of an article by James Taranto in the arts section of the Wall Street Journal (April 30, 2008).

Brazil Premiere

Kenyon's Songs of Distant Earth, received its South American premiere at the 36° Festival Nacional de Musica at the Universidade Federal de Goiás in Brazil on November 5th.

Inertia

Inertia, written to celebrate the 45th year of the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble, was premiered at TTU on November 5th.

Isle of Mann

The Morehead State University Trombone Ensemble premiered Kenyon's Isle of Mann at the at MSU on November 21.

Penultimate Tango

The Morehead State University Trombone Ensemble premiered Kenyon's Penultimate Tango at the Commonwealth Trombone Summit in Kentucky on October 3rd.

Trifecta

Dr. Bill Mann and the Morehead State University Tuba/ Euphonium Ensemble recorded Kenyon's Trifecta for a new CD to be released this fall.
